ORILLIA WATERFRONT PARK

Orillia, ON
Client: City of Orillia
Size: 1 kilometer
Completion: In Progress

Orillia’s waterfront is a civic treasure. It is the iconic jewel of the Trent-Severn Waterway and valued amongst residents and visitors alike. It offers a range of amenities, spatial programs, and circulation options focused along the waterfront.

Demands for green space will continue to escalate as development expands in the city, as density increases, and as land availability is reduced. The overall park redevelopment strategy, as approved by Council, focuses on the preservation of the park as a cohesive linkage of Couchiching Beach, Centennial and Veterans’ Memorial Parks as well as an animated waterfront. The Lake Couchiching lakefront and its Waterfront Master Plan offers a unique sense of place and expands the recreational offerings for residents and visitors alike.

With overwhelming positive support from the public and Council city staff have been directed to incorporate the proposed Waterfront Plan into the 10-year capital plan. Staff was also directed to initiate the presentation of priority projects during Budget deliberations for review and consideration.
