Holmes Park Expansion

Building on the success of Holmes Park, STUDIO tla is leading the design and delivery of Olive Park, the second phase of this important community open space in North York. Where Holmes Park established a vibrant, activity-oriented play environment, Olive Park provides a softer, more contemplative public realm that emphasizes social connection, comfort, and ecological enhancement.

The design introduces a variety of social seating opportunities, ranging from games tables, picnic areas, and lounge chairs to custom benches designed to integrate stormwater infiltration directly into adjacent planting beds. Flexible seating modules allow for both quiet, individual retreat and lively group interaction, creating a dynamic balance of passive and active uses.
New horticultural beds with native pollinator species and the planting of native canopy trees strengthen biodiversity and complement the existing mature grove to the south. Enhanced lighting and pathways establish a strong east–west connection that supports the adjacent POPS walkway, while providing a landscape buffer to the neighboring townhomes.

Program elements include adult exercise equipment, a parkour climbing course, and a misting station for summer comfort, alongside a flexible lawn that accommodates community gatherings and seasonal use.
